Psystar files voluntary bankruptcy
Written by Chris Tangora
Bankruptcy. That's right. The First Clone War might have just ended with Psystar filing for for Chapter 11 protection on May 21st, 2009. I'm sure that this is going to make Apple quite happy, for a few reasons. First the knock-offs will be off the market. Always easier to sell your product when there is less competition, though the Hackintoshes are still out there for the DIY'ers. But second, and possibly more important to Apple & Steve Jobs, is the conspiracy theories will finally be solved. What you haven't heard of the conspiracy theories around the Psystar case? Read on for more info.See, Apple had pretty much won the court case from the word "Go". Apple's lawyers didn't run in at the first chance they had to sue Psystar, they waited until they had some strong legal backing to sue them with. When they finally decided on copyright infringement it was just to get Psystar into the court room. Once it was in the hand of a judge is when Apple's real purpose for the lawsuit came out, to find out who was sponsoring the Clone uprising.
The voluntary bankruptcy petition named the claims against Psystar, and it's quite amazing. Over $114,000 in Credit Card Processing debt, another $12,750 in "orders" to DHL, and $120,000 to Rodolfo Pedraza (the person who started Psystar & filed the petition). But when Psystar heads back to court, it won't be to battle Apple, it's going to have to come clean with who paid for Psystar to start-up and who has been funding it. All in all, it looks like this David wasn't able to take down the Goliath of Apple. But, there are still at least two different clone makers out there, RussianMac & PearC. So Apple's legal battles aren't over yet.

You know it would be smart if these clone makers just sold the hardware and labeled it OS X compatible. This way the buyer of the product has to buy a copy of OS X from the Applestore. Give the buyer a option for Windows or Linux. Just use a free distro of Linux so the customer isn't up charged for a OS.
