Thanks for the request mate!
Heh, agree about the Keynote.
No Jobs is pretty sad. =(
And no iPhone updates just as well... Quite lame indeed.
Some iWork and iLife updates are interesting though.
Have fun!

MacWorld Expo Keynote:
One word. Lame.
No new Mac Mini, No Jobs, nothing but the 17" Laptop upgrade that should have happened months ago and some predictable software updates.

Hey, my iPod/car dock is holding up wonderfully. I have completely forgotten to post about it with macmod going down. I'll find the thread on the forum and post an update though

moderation hasn't been suggested. We thought about it though, but, I don't really think its that big a deal to let people create em. Granted there are some repeats kinda, and some are kinda lame, IMHO, but, whateva..

I still can't get behind Apple's refusal to include flash support on their devices, though I can understand it for the reasons previously mentioned. Adobe does need to up their game. However, stating that the iPad is "the best way to experience the web" is patently absurd when you consider the vastly, mindbogglingly big segment of that web which is flashy.

wow. she's really getting into that.

Gad, that's hysterical... "not just dicking around."
MacWorld Expo Keynote Without Steve Jobs
In a scant fifty minutes, for the first time since I can remember, the MacWorld Keynote will begin sans Apple's CEO Steve Jobs. What are we to make of this? This and the announcement that Apple will no longer have a presence at the MacWorld Expo at all? I honestly don't know.
To begin with, MacWorld has been the main, if not the only, direct interface between Apple and its fanbase - the average Apple user. Sure, the WWDC will probably expand and become even more the focus of attention where Apple announcements are concerned. But most of us will never be able to attend the WWDC, given the $3000 plus cost. And many of us wouldn't want to given the opportunity. We're not all programmers, developers and other tech geniuses. An awful lot of us are just Mac users.
Needless to say, this dumping of the show by Apple has ruffled more than a few feathers. This has been tempered by some degree by the revalation of Job's mysterious health problem, but some are still incensed. One such person is Lesa Snider King who is calling on her fellow enthusiasts to refuse to clap or cheer durring this years keynote.
I won't be there, but I think I'd clap if I were. Assuming there is anything to clap about, that is.

It's official, MacMod 3.0 is here! And not a moment too soon. Look for my full review of the new Facebook..., er, MacMod in the coming days. Meantime, head over to MacMod.com and get set up yourself! Here's from the official press release:
Atlanta, GA Jan 1, 2009
This isn't your average "social network!" MacMod is repositioning itself in order to better serve Mac users looking for a place to socialize and learn with other Mac users. In this world of social networking MacMod recognizes the need to bring the powerful community building features of sites like Facebook and MySpace into the smaller more intimate niche that is the Mac community.
"We've always been a big destination for enthusiastic people who want to customize and optimize their Macs," says Anthony King, one of the founders of MacMod. "Now we're making it easy and fun for them to develop relationships with others who feel the same way about their computers."
Members of the site will be able to interact with other members in the same way they have grown accustomed to on other social networks. However, unlike most social networks, MacMod will be blending these features with useful Mac-related content including software tools, modification guides, system specs, icons sets, daily news, and more.
The MacMod difference:
* Users are surrounded by other Mac users
* Members can contribute to site-wide blogs and photo galleries
* Social content is complimented by informative Mac-centric content
* Mac users get a "real community" that is more than just a forum
As long as Apple continues to grow the market share for its computers, Mac OS X, and its other product lines such as the iPhone and iPod, there will be a stream of new Mac users looking for an online community where they can meet new people and learn about all things Mac. MacMod is positioned to be the place for them both.
I just bought the Mac Heist bundle. 7 fantastic apps worth $260+ for only $19.95 and got 3 great bonus apps free! http://bit.ly/heist-it
