As an immersive conference from morning until evening, you should plan on activities for the entire time you are at the conference. Additional details on schedule will be disseminated closer to the event.

Schedule

For travel planning purposes, here are a couple of times you may want to know.

Wed, Oct 17th:
8am: Conference Registration
10am: Keynote Begins

Fri, Oct 19th:
Approximately 1pm: Conference concludes
Approximately 1pm-4pm: Additional activites.

Hotel Accommodations

By far, the best experience will be for those who are staying at the Sheraton Universal (where the conference is) as it will give you the greatest exposure to meeting others, and talking with your peers. We have selected the Sheraton not only for the conference space, but also for the quality of its rooms and location.

Special event hotel room rates are available to conference attendees and sponsors only. Once your registration is completed, we'll contact you so that you can make your hotel reservations online. When you're ready, register here.

The Sheraton is a quality venue with rooms that typically run $229.00 or more per night, plus tax, and with Internet for an additional fee.

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, MacTech Conference attendees get a special rate. Just $184 per night which includes Internet. Taxes and service charges are extra. Room quantity is limited.

NOTE: Last year, the hotel block sold out nights. You can only reserve rooms after conference registration. Do not wait to register.

Sheraton Universal Hotel
Part of the Starwood Group of Hotels
333 Universal Hollywood Drive
Universal City, California 91608

Transformed by a recent $30 million renovation, the Sheraton Universal Hotel is ready to give you a warm, red carpet welcome. Known as the "Hotel of the Stars" the landmark hotel unveils an artistic wonder that blends four-star service with nostalgic design elements from the golden age of film: the 1920's through the 1940's. Guests will revel in the newly renovated rooms and amenities while they enjoy daily service rituals that will reassure them of their star status.

Newly renovated guest rooms allow you to enjoy amazing views of Universal Studios and the Hollywood hills, with all the comforts of home right at your fingertips. You can stay connected with wireless high speed Internet access in each room. Get a blissful night's sleep in The Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed.

Parking is available on-site at the following rates.

Daily parking rates for those attending group functions at the hotel

  • $10.00 for self-parking - Attending event, but not staying overnight
  • $14.00 for valet parking - Attending event, but not staying overnight

Overnight parking rates (with In and Out privileges)

  • $18.00 for self-parking - Attending event, and staying overnight
  • $23.00 for valet parking - Attending event, and staying overnight

All parking rates are quoted exclusive of applicable state and local taxes, which is currently 10% and is subject to change without notice.

Flights and Airports

While you can fly into any of the five Los Angeles area airports, Burbank (BUR) is the closest, and Los Angeles International (LAX) is the next closest. As we get closer to the event, we'll provide additional information on shuttle options to and from the airport, or you can take any of the commercially available transportation options.

Getting to the Sheraton from LAX or BUR

There are three primary ways that people get from the airports to the hotel: rent a car, taxi, or shuttle services. Remember that if you rent a car, there's a charge for parking at the hotel. You won't need a car while at the conference as we've taken care of transportation from the Sheraton to our other venues.

Taxi services can be expensive, but may be worthwhile to you especially if you're able to share a cab from the airport to the hotel. (You may want to tweet at @mactechconf if you are looking to share).

The most economical method, and the one that natives of Los Angeles tend to use most, are the shuttle van services. While there are a number of these, we can tell you that we've found PrimeTime, SuperShuttle, and Road Runner to all be reputable and typically has service from all major LA area airports.
