RSS and game emulation for Apple TV
Written by Jacob Head
Tuesday, 10 April 2007

itvhd.jpgEngadget reports two new additions to the list of Apple TV hacks: a fully functional and integrated RSS reader and--brace yourself--video game emulation for NES, SNES, N64 and Sega Genesis. The RSS reader comes from a few smart guys over at twenty08 who managed to create this plugin to work right alongside your media and photos.

The emulation isn't as clear cut. However, classic Mario fans will be happy to know that virtually all the popular emulators from Richard Bannister will work on the Apple TV OS. Finally, Engadget reports there is a $1,000 bounty for a hack that enables external drive support through the USB port. It should be only natural that somebody from our forums be the first to do it!

1404t.jpgAre you one of the few and the proud that have a 1st Gen iPod? Sure, it's a great little piece of history to have around, but if you actually plan on using it, you're severely limited in storage space. Why not give that first gen new life? Build your own iHome
Written by Jacob Head

icylinder.jpgWant an iHome but don't want to fork over the cash? Why not build your own? In a very well put together guide, Mac modder lacrosseislife24 has put together an excellent guide on making what he calls "iCylinder". It's pretty open ended and, although it cannot use a song to wake you up, play radio or have an alarm clock, it is open ended enough that the studious modder can easily add that concept himself with little or no third party instruction. It's very well put together! Look for the iCylinder mod guide on MacMod.com soon!
