While we were a day late with our birthday wishes for OS X, we remembered you this time Apple. On this day, in 1976, Apple Computer Company was born. Best wishes go to the proud parents, Steve J. & the Woz.
Thanks to Shodan.in for reminding us! We almost forgot!

Leaked Photo of Second-Generation iPhone |

NOTE : THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOL'S DAY JOKE. IT SAYS SO IN THE COMMENTS. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A SERIOUS LEAK.
We just got this one in. One of our sources within Apple e-mailed us
with the exclusive leaked photograph seen here, stating that this is a
promotional shot of a prototype second-generation iPhone.
At
first we thought this photo was obviously fake because of the Windows
and Internet Explorer logos on the screen. We decided to call Apple
anyway, expecting to get the usual "Apple does not comment on rumors
and speculation" line, or more likely that we'd just give the person
answering the phone a good laugh. Imagine our surprise when they took
our phone number and said that someone would call us back shortly!
About
ten minutes later, we got a call from none other than Phil
Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing,
who confirmed that the photo is indeed of the next-generation iPhone,
and that it does in fact run an as-yet-unreleased version of Windows CE
that has been greatly improved by adding code from Vista. According to
Schiller, "Apple decided that the OS X-based iPhone was too much of a
pain to develop, and we realized that we could save a lot of money by
slapping on someone else's OS instead. And who makes a better OS and
browser than Microsoft?"

Adobe joins Linux Foundation |

This news comes on the heals of Linux walking away with no successful Zero Day attacks, and Adobe Flash being used to gain access to the Windows laptop. Adobe has officially joined the Linux Foundation and is in heavy testing of some it's software for Linux.
Adobe is currently testing their new AIR platform for Linux and Flex Builder 33 (in early Alpha stage). They have also released an Adobe Flash component for Linux (though after PWN to OWN I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing).

Look for new iPhones in June, that's the latest word. A foreign news agency syas that the NAND memory people are expecting a "large order" from Apple in the upcoming months for a product to be released in June of this year. Apple helps stabilize the NAND memory companies due to the high volume of orders it places.
While it may not be iPhones, they are the lead contender right now. It could also be a new Mac Mini with SSD, or it could be updates to the Mac Book Air. But my hunch is the iPhone / iPod. No word yet on 3G or not, but everyone else is saying it will be.

More Mac Mini update rumors, ODD speculation. |

Looprumors is claiming inside information on the new Mac Mini revisions rumored around the web. They are claiming the new Mac Mini will be less than half the size of the current Mac Mini and is in production now. The question is, what direction are they reducing the Mini? Is Apple bold enough to remove the attached DVD from the Mini like they did for the MacBook Air?
If the DVD drive is removed from the MacMini, it could then be squeezed even further, not only in height, but in width and depth. Imagine a Mac Mini the size of an old school iPod. This could turn plenty of people off of using the Mac Mini as a Home Theater Media Center (HTMC). Maybe if NetFlix gets Apple approval for downloads it would work out, but not having an attached DVD would throw off lots of buyers interested in HTMC Minis. But if the lack of DVD drops the price, that's a different story.
Another option for the optical disk drive (ODD) would be to use some of the patents it already has. Back in January of 2007 there was a patent released showing Apple was considering new ways to use optical disk. AppleInsider posted a really good review of that technology. Just some food for the rumor mills.

MacBook Air, gone in 120 seconds. |

The Mac went first. Sad to say, but it is true. The MacBook Air at CanSecWest was the first to go after the contest supervisors slacked the rules a bit. The first day very few people tried to hack the laptops, as they were required to attack from the outside. The second day was a little bit easier, as the hackers could instruct contest supervisors to visit specific sites. And the rest is history.
The team of Charlie Miller, Jake Honoroff, and Mark Daniel from Independent Security Evaluators (the winners) had to sign a non-disclosure agreement until Apple was dually notified of the vulnerability. They get $10,000 and the MacBook Air. Good Job Independent Security Evaluators. Bad Job Apple.
Now to the serious notes. WTF. Really? 120 seconds? That's gotta hurt. I'm sure Steve is a little pissed right now. Mac users beware, looks like we're in for some harrasment. Now the question is, did they go after the Mac for the MacBook Air or because they knew of a vulnerability on the Mac?

More evidence of new iPods |

More evidence came today that Apple will be releasing a new iPod / iPhone in the third quarter this year. Semiconductor maker Wolfson Microelectronic, the maker of semiconductors for Apple Inc.'s iPods, said a "major" customer won't use one of Wolfson's products in
a portable media player that it plans to release in the third
quarter of this year.
While Wolfson did not say "Apple" directly, Apple is Wolfson's largest client. New semiconductor for the new iPods?

Safari's Impossible Clause |

Oops! I guess that we aren't the only ones who don't read the End User License Agreement (EULA). It appears that Apple's Safari for Windows uses the same EULA that the Mac version does, only problem is that the EULA says that Safari can only be installed on "a single Apple labeled computer" at one time.
In reality it doesn't mean much, legal experts have said that this is an impossibility issue. Since it is impossible to do, you don't have to do it. I think it is Apple subliminally trying to get more people to buy Macs.
Thanks to Big-O for spotting this one.
