| Mac mini mod creator Hideo Takano meets MacMod |
| Wednesday, 20 February 2008 | ||||
While searching the internet for interesting news items, we occassionaly come across a cool mod that we haven't seen before. What we found in Hideo Takano from Japan blows all expectation away. He runs the MacMod Lab (no affilliation with this site) and is a modder extraordinaire. Unfortunately he doesn't speak English, and I don't speak Japanese. But still I was able to get some questions answered about his mods, please forgive the poor paraphrasing of the translations.MacMod : What do you like about modding? Hideo : Who doesn't like new designs? MacMod : What is the inspiration for your mods? Hideo : There are many things that inspire the mods. Idle moments in life, looking through magazines, gossip, news and other things. MacMod : What is your favorite mod to date? Hideo : The CubeG5 is my favorite, it is also the hardest since I am never satisfied with it. MacMod : Do you sell your mods or keep them? Hideo : In order to stay away from copyright issues, I do not sell them. MacMod : Do you use Macs only? Hideo : Not just macs, almost anything you want. Macs, PC's, game consoles, mobile phones, etc. MacMod : What plans do you have for future mods? Hideo : I have many, one of them is a hot air induced toaster. Another would be do with a Wii remote. I have a deep fondness for the Mac Mini so I want to reproduce the form alot. A blog for the Mac Mini Pro is currently in production. MacMod : What materials do you use? Hideo : I use all kinds of material, mainly metal and plastic. ABS resin takes some time to get formed. MacMod : Do you have any tips for modders in America? Note : This is the translation as it came across. I can't figure it out but maybe somebody else can. Hideo : In Japan than the United States has many modders, and the film's characters and games based on the diorama or irritant and I, people, culture and tips to be a lot. If you have the opportunity to talk to everyone, and I want to touch it. If anybody knows Japanese and wouldn't mind translating, please email me. I'll gladly repost his response with a better translation. MacMod Lab, Google Translation ( in Japanese )
