No more in-store Apple Deals
Saturday, 01 March 2008
appleopenbox.jpegCyrus Farivar of MacUser.com recently reported that the in-store "open-box" deals have been discontinued.  Apparently the local Apple stores used to hold open box items in the back and occasionally bring them out for a "fire" sale.  But if you asked, you could take a look at their current selection before they rolled it out.

Josh Bryant posted that he too tried it and was told that the open-box and fire sales have discontinued.  I had never heard of this.  Has anybody else ever seen a fire sale or tried to get an open box deal?  Are there any other Apple buying secrets out there that anyone can share?

The open-box is empty

i've seen several of these fire sales. they are all open box items. they definitely look used...often taped with cheap packing tape, but always in the original boxes. The deals were never that good and I imagine they are now discontinuing this because it makes a lot more sense to route all refurbished product through their respective manufactures, including sending apple computers back to Apple HQ to be resold thru the online store.
