Apple's future looking good |
|
Saturday, 01 March 2008 |
Tom Cooke, COO of Apple, conducted an interview at the Goldman Sachs
Technology Symposium on Februray 27th and everyone is feeling good
about it. The stock rose 4% after the interview and he gave some good
bait to bloggers everywhere. Tom said that Apple was "not married" to
any business model for the iPhone, and they would do anything to sell
10 million iPhones in 2008.
Tom says that having a problem with the exported/unlocked iPhones in
non-iPhone markets it is a good problem to have. Apple is in a key
position since it can develop not only a product (iPhone), but also a
platform (OS X). First of all, I think it's really important to
realize that very
few companies in the world know how to build a platform. You can count
them on a few fingers. Apple is one of them. We've had the Mac platform
for years and really understand this."
Tom was calm and had solid responses to the questions. It shows that
Apple is feeling confident about their products and aren't limiting
themselves when reaching for their goals (specifically the 10 million
iPhones).
