No more "I'm a Mac"
Tuesday, 18 March 2008
macguy-justinlong.jpgWhile it's not official, Radar Online has announced that Justin Long will no longer be the "Mac" in the Apple advertisements.  No official word is out from Apple, but we could see a new "Mac" or a completely new line of advertisements.

Apple has been criticized for the image of Justin in the commercials, and this may be the time that Apple moves on from the artist and younger image it has in the media.  I personally see them having a businessman stand up there saying "I'm a Mac", and then having a real "artist", and then a kid, etc.  That is the only way I see the "I'm A Mac" ad continuing.  But hey, maybe Steve can turn on the reality distortion field and make a virtual "Mac".

Looks like I wasn't the only one to fall victim to the missed date (but I have a valid excuse).

AdRants.com also fell victim to the same article. Damn you 2006!

I hope it's true. I hate those ads and that guy. Makes me not like Apple.

I was on the road driving cross country when I posted this. Must have missed the date.

Er, um... I just realized that the Radar Online article referenced in the MacMod article is actually... the same one from 2006. This is not new news.

Perhaps this time it's actually true, but remember that Radar Online also broke the same story in November 2006, and here we are well over a year later and Justin Long is still doing Mac ads.

Here's the November 2006 article:
