MacMini Cube

mod-macminicube.pngRich Willis' .Mac page has a pretty cool mod you'll want to take a look at.  It is based around a MacMini and an old cube case.  It took him over two days to cut the holes for the casing, as it would crack or melt if pushed any faster.  The really interesting part is the virtual keyboard he shows.  It looks like a laser generated keyboard, but unfortunately he doesn't go into any details on it.  After looking at it closely I think it is just for display.

Looking closer at Rich's website you'll see his also a cancer survivor (cancer of the butt, which he has quite a few butt jokes if you are up for a laugh).  He is also building a custom motorcycle.  Take a look at his site if you have some time, he's got other interesting stuff as well.

if for some reason you read this post linking to your mod, Rich, you can keep the blade wet with some water which will keep it cooler for longer and allow you to cut more. You'd still need to stop occasionally, but it'll make the whole operation go quicker.

The keybord is probably this: http://www.amazon.com/Laser-Projection-Keyboard-Enabled-Laserkey/dp/B0010SLSOS

They are not that great, no tactile feedback, and you need to have a desk large enough to display the entire keyboard. I have used one briefly, you want to "chicken peck" the keys. Also, depending on how you set it up, it can be a PITA to ctrl-c or do keyboard shortcuts.
