On a modding page I saw a Twin-Set of two blue Cold Cathodes with an Inverter and a switch. I thought that my G5 looks much better if I put a of bit light in it.
I bought the Twin-Set and I started with the switch. I took the cover of the fourth PCI-Slot and bent it a bit at the top so that I could put the switch in the plug.
Then I put a bit of glue at the outside of the G5 and fixed the switch with the glue.
After that I put the cables on the topside of the Mainboard. I put the Inverter in the space between the fan and the PCI-Card-Holder It fits perfectly. The Inverter was light blue, but I painted it black. I put it in there because of the fan. The Inverter shouldn’t become to hot. I also bought a Splitter and I put one end at the optical drive and the other end at the cold Cathodes. Now I have an extra molex connecter because the cable of the inverter is built that we don't lose an electricity connecter. I put this free molex connecter on the fan. So I had the possibility to put a fan right behind my Radeon 9800Pro witch heated up my TV-card too much so that it sometimes overheats. Now we’re coming to the cathodes. One I put in front of the upper CPU fan.
The cables of the cathode are going through the same hole as the AirPort Extreme cables. They’re comming out under the Inverter. Now I just had to connect them and the first cathode is installed !
The second cathode I put behind the fan next to the speaker. The rest of the cables I put behind the inverter. There is also the rest of the other cables from the other cathode.
„Now I’m finished.“, I thought but these red and yellow cables are not realy nice. So I decided to make a cover for them. I thought about some different methodes and finally I put a black paper, cut it so, that I could wrap the cables in it and put it behind the cables witch are already there. It’s an easy solution, but it’s nice. ;-)

At some places I put some adhesive tapes to fix the black paper.
Now we’re coming to the ugliest thing – the switch. I thought, that I had to make some changes here! First I removed those really ugly adhesive tapes, then I wraped the cables with a black paper again and finally I painted those cables black wich were not covered by the paper. Now it’s quite nice. At this point I wan't to submit the mod, but the server was down, so I take the chance to put a LED-Fan into my G5 . . . I bought a Thermaltake Smart Case Fan with blue LEDs:
Now I've got a new cover from Thermaltake. I threw the old away and bend the new: Unfortunately the cover is turned. . .
With this fan I could overclock my Radeon 9800 Pro. GPU: 370 MHz, Memory: 350 MHz Now we’re comming to the final product. Here some pictures : I think that the design of the Powermac G5 is really nice, so I didn’t want to do something witch would make my G5 look worse than it is. But now I’m satisfied with my work ;-)
Here without the fan:

With the fan.

I hope I made everything allright . . . I'm sorry for my english but my mother tongue is German, so please forgive me . . . Greetz
