Syncing Exchange and Mac through Me.com

At the WWDC Keynote today Steve introduced the me.com service. Me.com is replacing mac.com, it cost $99/year and allows you to sink your Mac's apps to an exchange server. However, it is not clear if you need to have an iPhone to do this. So far all the talk has been about syncing between the server your iPhone and your Mac. The entire morning has been focused on the iPhone.

Earlier in the month we saw the sync option available if you plugged in an iPhone, then it would go away after a while if you didn't plug the iPhone in again. Hopefully that is NOT the case with the Me.com syncing. It looks like you can view it on the web or on the iPhone.

We'll keep an ear out to see if you need the iPhone in order to make the me.com syncing to exchange server work or not.

The good news it that it is out there. Now all we need to do is hack it so we don't have to pay the $99 a month to have a synced Mail account.

	I think ME.com does most of what Exchange does anyway. iPhone will sync with actual Exchange servers from 2.0 and Macs will be getting improved Exchange support with Snow Leopard. Registered

	There will be no need for an iPhone or iPod Touch for me.com to sync with your Mac or Windows computers. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, then it will sync with those devices as well. It was actually quite clear in the WWDC Keynote that this is how me.com will work. Guest

	Looks like it won't sync back to the Exchange server, it will only sync to the me.com server. Shame. The Mac really needs some help in the Exchange server area. Forget the "exchange for the rest of us". How about the one forced to use exchange already? Why don't we get anything? Guest
