A possible sign of things to come for small Mac-based companies has happened. The Mac accessory company XtremeMac has been bought out by Imation (a 3M company), press release here. XtremeMac has shelf exposure at the Apple
stores and this should help push for more Mac accessories by Imation in
the future. XtremeMac will not be changed just yet, as their financials will not really effect Imation.
This looks like it is more for getting a quick foothold in the Mac
marketplace for Imation than about a corporate takeover. Hopefully we
will see more money for Mac development at XtremeMac now that it has a
sugar mama of a corporate sponsor. Generally XtremeMac has been focused on the iPhone/iPod segment, but with more funding we may see more for the other sections of Apple.
