So it takes advantage of the fact that the Keychain is open by default.  
 
Just set the Keychain to lock on timeout or when the machine goes to sleep and that should fix "most" of it.

What I don\'t understand is how it can automatically get the data off. I didn\'t think that mac auto runs thing that are on removable media.

So what's to stop someone from giving their cop buddy $500 and asking them to buy one? (Or offering a cut of the profits if they're just going to turn around and sell them.) These things will probably be on eBay soon enough. 
 
iPod Chris' comment is insightful, though. If someone has physical access to your computer, all bets are off as far as safeguarding your data unless you're using full-drive encryption and your computer has been shut down for at least several minutes. On the other hand, if this product is legitimate, it would make it so much easier to get what you want, without having to steal the computer: 
 
"A database of the suspect’s information is compiled on the Flash Drive to allow for easy transportation away from the suspect’s system. This database can be read by the included log readers on Microsoft Windows, Linux, or Apple Mac OS X computers back at base."

Fortunately for everyone it will also be about 5 mins before a way of defeating it is out in the wild as well. I can't believe the idiots talk about how it works right there on the front page of the site.

Yes, it is only a matter of time before this is available in the open/black market.  
 
But if someone gets a hold of your Mac(or Winbox) they can do almost anything they want to it anyways.

Worry is the only thing I can do when I see this. I am sorry, but I trust my friends more than the government. And if some company can make this it is just time until someone makes on in their basement and sells them on ebay...
