Why Amit Bhawani is an idiot.

So there will always be Mac haters, that's just a fact.  As much as we wish everyone would move on over to the Church of Mac, there will always be the people who just try slamming Apple's software and hardware whenever they can.  It becomes unfortunate when the slammers start spewing out complete and total nonsense, and for the most part I tend to just ignore them.  As much flawed logic as they have, I generally say a Mac blessing for them, "Please let the light of Steve shine down on them", and call it a night.  But not for Amit Bhawani.

I don't know why this guy bugged me so much, but his 12 point blog entry on why he thinks the Mac sucks (the MacBook specifically) and Windows Rocks is so lame I had to respond.  Maybe it's because I use a MacBook and love it, or maybe it's his flawed logic, whatever it is, here are the highlights from his blog entry "Why Apple Macbook Sucks Windows Rocks".

The main problem I have with his entry is how much he contradicts himself.  He complains of not having the applications needed for being a Webmaster (Firefox Browser + MS paint + FTP Software + Instant Messenger).  While yes, a free Photoshop like application does not come with the standard OS X build, but if you are making your living using MS Paint, then you need to think about a serious upgrade to your software.  The other humorous part of his first point was that he complained about not having FireFox installed, as if FireFox was part of Windows instead of it's main competition in the web browser market.  There are dozens of free (or cheap) FTP software and Google has the information on their FAQ about how to setup gTalk with iChat on their site!

Okay.  The first point is completely annoying, maybe one of his other 12 points will hold some merit.  Not #2 (a repeat of #1), and #3 is a complaint about TextEdit?  Really?  A complaint that TextEdit takes 2 to 3 seconds to load the first time?  Maybe he doesn't realize that you can launch it and leave it open in the background with windows open and when you select it, a window opens instantly.

I'll touch on point 4 and 5, then let you read the rest and get fustrated with his logic.  Point 4 is about the size of the software updates, I can almost understand this, but he complains about people on slow broadband.  Even on slow broadband you can download the updates in the background, and if you are a webmaster on a slow broadband connection Amit, then you really, really need to think about upgrading your software and internet connection.

Point 5 is about Spaces, or should I say, the lack of awareness about Spaces.  Amit doesn't realize that Spaces (available on a Mac or Linux) allows you to keep your application's windows organized by window, or move them as you see fit (very easily I might add).  You can also hide all other applications with a simple key stroke.  Not to mention Expose giving you instant access to all your applications' windows or all the windows you have open.

Ugh!  Amit is so annoying.  See for yourself at amitbhawani.com.

These windows types never cease to amaze me. They can stare directly into the solution to a problem and simply will themselves not to see it. It's doublethink, and it's creepy.

It looks like we are now the second site on Google (third hit).

I wonder how many people have to link to this to get it to be number one. Maybe we should hire Amit as a SEO to get that done.

Most of the time I ignore these kinds of Mac bashing posts, but this guy irked me enough to post something. As long as idiot idiot shoes up in his google name search, I'll be happy.

Evidence that this guy is probably just doing it to increase the hits on his site: his About page says he's a Search Engine Optimizer. A lot of SEO guys do sneaky things to get links on high-traffic sites like MacMod.

You're playing right into his little scheme to get people to link to his blog! =)

John C. Dvorak is another guy who's notorious for baiting Mac users (and has admitted to doing so).

The guy's an ass. Why're you giving him free links?

I'd never heard of the moron earlier, and a quick glance at his "work" leads to the quick conclusion that he's just scraping other sites for "content."
