MacMod member RadioC1ash has made two simple, yet effective mods to his home Mac's keyboard and mouse to give them a Victorian/steampunk feel to them. When RadioC1ash saw the 2007 Great Mod Challenge winner Electronumerograph he got inspiration for his Mac at home. RadioC1ash wanted to make his Mac feel more at home in his 1900's home, so as part of an anniversary gift he took their keyboard and mouse back in time.
RadioC1ash did not completely disassemble the keyboard like some Steampunk keyboard mods do, instead he focused on the feel of the 1900's. He mod'd his keyboard to look more like a typewriter, while not giving up the functionality, by painting it with flat black and gold. He also went after his mighty mouse. Again, not wanting to loose the functionality he went with an exterior mod on it as well. The black and gold paint job matches up nicely with the keyboard.
Both pieces are to be anniversary gifts as part of a larger G4 steampunk mod. I'm looking forward to seeing more of RadioC1ash's work and everyone else's mod submissions in the Great Mod Challenge 2008.
