Intego's Virus Monitor Center has released a press memo alerting Mac & Windows users to a security bug in the latest version of QuickTime (version 7.5.5). The security flaw is with how QuickTime handles long strings, with the possibility to heap overflow QuickTime Player in both Macs and Windows. Right now it will just cause the player or web browser to crash, but in the future it may be possible to add malicious code as well. Intego is watching it and I'm sure Apple is working on a fix as well. It will be interesting to see how quickly Apple responds to this and fixes it.
