Steve Wozniak recently did an article for the UK's Telegraph newspaper and he has some interesting thoughts on Apple & Steve Jobs. Interesting as in a little bit off. The bit that threw me is that he thinks Steve Jobs doesn't know about products until they are just about to be launched. Yes, you heard me right. The Woz thinks the other Steve doesn't know what's going on at Apple. We heard something about this with Pixar, that Steve wouldn't have the time to devote to being CEO of Apple because of other items on his agenda. But to say that Steve doesn't know what the next product is until it is about to launch is just crazy.
While the Woz does have some crazy clips in the article, he does have a few good points. Apple shouldn't be comfortable with their cult-like (hell let's just say cult) following, even in an economic downturn. Woz also says that maybe a slowdown in the IT market would be a good thing, to avoid another .com disaster. One thing does come to my mind while I read his interview. When Steve Jobs was talking about the downturn in the market (in the past). Steve Jobs said that he invest in the company, so when things turn back around Apple is ready to move on. If the brick is a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, then that is just what Steve and Apple are doing. Investing in the future, when everyone else is scaling back. It's worked in the past, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out now.
