This mod was performed by Confituur.com.  They wanted to create a sensitive floor that spoke when triggered.  Find out how they used a powerbook to do this mod.

Originally this was a PowerBook 5300c/100mhz/750hd/48ram.

We cut off as much as possible, so there is no battery, no keyboard and no disk drive anymore, although the disk drive and battery are still connectable as an extention to the top of the AlBook.

It was/is the engine of an interactive poëtry floor by confituur.com. The installation looks like this:

It is a carpet existing out of 49 pressure sensitive tiles. When you step on the tiles words are spoken though speakers. When a person is walking slowly over the floor the words will be different than when the person is jumping around. A camera (quickcam) is registering the type of movement. The application used for this installation is MAX/MSP.
