"Pismo" Powerbook G3 case/hardware mods

This represents an amalgamation of various mods.. first, the hardware stuff:
-- The stock 6gig HD has been replaced with a Travelstar 60gig HD. This requires removing the keyboard and heat sink, and removing the old drive from the drive caddy (caution: requires hard-to-find small gauge Torx screwdriver or drill bit.) The new HD fits right in, the torx screws are reapplied, and you're good to go.
-- The stock DVD/CD-ROM has been replaced with a Lite-On LSC24082k DVD/CD-R. This is trickier; it requires removing the original drive, removing the 6 *tiny* screws from the drive to seperate it from the drive caddy, and sliding the replacement drive into the caddy, reapplying the 6 tiny screws. The replacement drive does not align exactly with the side of the 'book, but it only juts out about 1/16".
-- The top of the case was removed by removing the 6 plastic screw covers, and then the screws themselves, located on the front of the LCD (two on the bottom, four on the top.) The top cover was then *gently* pried apart, masked, and spraypainted with two light coats of Testors Metallic Silver spraypaint.
-- Once the paint dried, the spider decals were applied - these are nothing more than high quality racing decals that you can find at any local hobby shop. The decals were applied gently, and once on, the top of the case was sprayed with two coats of Krylon Clear Acrylic Finish, which gives the decals a permanent and "painted-on" look and feel - totally smooth to the touch, without any crackling over time. -- Finally, the glowing apple was changed simply by placing a piece of dull green translucent craft paper between the white styrofoam on the back of the exposed LCD and the apple logo.

Voila! The Spiderbook is born!
