We all know the plain white apple on the powerbook G3 (wallstreet, pismo, lombard, bronze keyboard) is boring. Well thats when I decided to add some color.
This mod has been done several times, but I would like to post my attempt at it. I used a powerbook G3 wallstret for this, but any can be used. This should also work on iBooks and if you can get the lid off, tiPowerbooks. Step one: Find an image, or color you would like to have in your apple. Step two: Print the image on transparency paper if your apple lights up, on photo glossy if it doesn't, a recommeded resolution for it would be 320 x 240 pixles. Step three: Remove your powerbooks lid, I wont go into detail with this, because you shouldn't be doing this if you don't know how to carefully take apart your powerbook, plus, their are hundreds of guides out there for doing this. Step four: The not so fun part; removing the white paint. You could spent 15 minutes to an hour doing this, depending on how precise you are. All you need is fine grit sandpaper (300+) and some rubbing alchohol (90%, but 70% will do fine). All you have to do is site there scrubbing away with the rubbing alchohol and sandpaper till the white paint is gone. Step five: Apply the image. First cut it to fit in the apple, and then apply it with some scotch tape (if using transparency paper use a little hot glue around the edges of the image). Step six: Stand there and look at your lid in awe Step seven: Put your powerbook back together and go to starbucks and show off your shiny new mod. The final product: ![]()
