Who uses 8 cores? I don't know, but I'm sure I'd find a way! Apple has raised the bar--again. Yeah, I know. The price is high. Just think, a PM 9600 cost as much as 4k back in the day... and now you can get it for a few Benjies. Maybe in a decade you'll score yourself an octo? But who'll want that when you can get a 50 core 128 bit processor machines by then?

	well maybe it's time to finally up grade my system. and i paid about 7k for my rig all together. :( It's mainly used for video editng and graphics work. i think i could get some good use out of the oct core :D Registered

	yea, I have to agree with ya TCP. Its does seem like a glote system. I think the reason the clock speed stopped rising and the focus went to cores was because they couldn't figure out how to increase the clock anymore without overheating the chip. I read something a while back about how they are testing different methods of transferring data across the chips; lasers and some sort of magnetic cooling... Registered

	8 Cores! Jeez, most of us don't even need dual core. Kinda weird though that Intel went up to 3.4GHz then stop bumping the speed and went to dual core and most CPUs are 1.6 to 2GHz. To me the new 8 core is just a glote system. Kinda reminds me before vista came out a few people I knew went and spent 4K on a system with 4GB of ram and dual 512MB SLI video cards. Give it time and some one will build a 16 core system. Like a Quad core Xeon system with 4 core CPUs lol. Registered
