Type by Laser

I stumbled across a website that has a nifty project. Its called Laserspotcam.
Its very simple and can be very handy for people that are disabled or for presentations at the office. How it works is the user has a web camera in view of a sheet of paper with symbols, letters and numbers printed onto it and the user selects each character by flashing a simple laser pointer on it.
The source code is available and with X11 and xCode we should be able to run it.

How it works is you can use any picture or symbol you want. You can draw say a picture of a remote then program a macro to the software. In other words you point then the camera sends a signal to the software and matches the pointed out symbol to the macro that was a*signed. You might be able to use a projector and use a black and white filter on the camera and use the pointer for slide shows and such. When I finish my current project im going to start playing with this.

Now that is pretty neat.
Have not checked the link yet but they need to be able to filter out a certain colour of laser so that you could have one for aiming and one for typing.
Or there could be a certain symbol, like a line that the software ignores then when you press the button little sliders draw back revealing a plus sign that the software then counts as a click.
