Apple I replica building
Written by Chris Tangora
Hackintoshes might be the rage right now, but Vince Briel is going old school with his non-Mac Apple computers. Vince sells Apple I replicas that you build yourself. Ken Gagne of ComputerWorld was at the 2009 KansasFest and took a class in how to assemble the Apple I replica from Vince and reports back on the process. More info after the jump.
The replica sells for $149 unassembled (or assembled for $199, but who would want that). There isn't much you can do on it, but you can add lots of additions to it, including slot expanders & compact flash storage. If you want to see the build guide head over to ComputerWorld to see Ken's account of his re-creation of this computer milestone. Or head straight to the source, brielcomputers.com.

If you want to play with a Apple-1 try out the emulator before dishing out money for a kit.
Compact flash on a Apple-1 would be odd to use. The PS2 keyboard option is nice.
