Microsoft Faked "Lauren" Ad, no joke.

Okay, so I know we made a joke about Microsoft's "Lauren" ad for April Fool's Day, but this one is for real. Apparently Lauren's entire trip to the Apple store lasted about 4 seconds by my estimate. As she was walking "into" the Apple store, there was a man walking by the Apple store. In the same shot that she is leaving the Apple store the same person is still strolling in front of the store. Coincidence? Maybe. Except for the reflection in the mirror. Follow the jump to see for yourself. In the video you see the man in blue jeans and brown jacket with a tri-pod in his hand walking by the store at the same time
Lauren walks into the store. In the next shot as Lauren walks out of the store the same man is still in front of the store, about 3 or 4 steps from where he was before. Going back to the first shot you have teh magic bullet, the jean man. Apple's glass store front also acts as a mirror in this instance. You can see the man walking toward the store in the reflection on the first shot and then on the second shot (as she is "leaving") you see the man getting to the store. Now either Lauren is one of the fastest shoppers there is or this entire thing was setup. Lauren's still claiming that it was a "Market & Research" gig according to her website, but I think that we are really seeing what was going on there. Good acting Lauren.

If any of u knew anything about directing, you'd know that this type of thing is common. Rather than let her walk in, wait for her to shop around, and wait for her to walk out, they will record the walking in and walking out at the same time, to save time, and so that the crew can start packing up. good one though!! you guys figured it all out! BTW, im using my macbook air 1.8 and looking at my macbook pro on the table, both of which have windows 7 dual boot with leopard..so before u fanboys get too wild on me, think about that.
I guess you have no idea about the production of movies or anything related? thanks for this useless post.
well... it really looks like the set this part up. You got them! You probably can find a Macbook out there with a 17" screen for $1000. They just didn't want to show it.
BTW... can you tell me where to get a 17" Macbook for

Okay, I am not defending the ad. But, the two guys are probably extras paid to walk by. Over and over until they got the shot they wanted.
I'm sure Apple wouldn't have let them film in the store so their only option to show that she visited the store was to just show a walk in / walk out shot which they filmed all at once.. the fact that she walked in and right back out on camera does not preclude the possibility that she spent more time in the store off camera..
How would you have filmed this if you were the film crew? given that Apple will not allow you to film in the store.. would you film her going in and then sit with all your camera equipment for a half hour on the sidewalk filming the whole time so you can catch her when she happens to walk out again? I'm sure you would have done it the same way..
